A simple formula for making an irresistible offer

How do you get more people to take action on the things you offer? This is the number question when it comes to basically anything you do while building an online presence. It pertains to:

  • content

  • followers/subscribers

  • products

  • programs

  • free stuff

  • collaboration requests

  • brand partnerships

  • email signups

  • and on and on

Here’s how most people approach this - and why this approach doesn’t work.

“I’m taking new clients this month, schedule an appointment today.”

“Not getting my newsletter? Don’t miss out”

“I’m hosting a free webinar next Tuesday, here’s the link to register.”

“Follow me for more.”

I know you’ve seen these (and let’s be honest, you’re probably as guilty as I am for using them…).

None of these approaches work because they’re all about you and your thing. Not a single one of these speaks to the audience, inviting them into something that might actually benefit them.

Whether it’s paid or free, you HAVE TO SELL it! (I said what I said).

So how do you sell it effectively? Well, there are many ways. But the most efficient and effective might be Alex Hormozi’s M.A.G.I.C. Offer Formula.

The M.A.G.I.C. Offer Formula

MAGIC is an acronym for: Magnet, Avatar, Goal, Interval, Container. These are the 5 elements your offer should include (no matter what the offer is). Let’s look at each elements.

M = Magnet: Make a magnetic reason

-> Why does your offer exist? Giving a discount? Seasonal? Free offer?

This part of the name tells people why your offer exists. Are you giving away something for free or 50% off? Is it a seasonal campaign for Christmas, New Year, or another key date in the calendar?

A = Avatar: Announce the avatar.

-> Tell them who this is for. Twitter users? People looking to lose weight?

While “Busy Moms” could include people with high-functioning Autism, being clear on who this best serves will significantly increase your conversions.

G = Goal: Give them their goal.

-> What is the dream outcome? More followers? Product launch?

Articulate the dream outcome. What results will your potential customer expect? What will this help them do?

You could use words like Bulging Biceps, 10k followers, Pain-Free, etc.

I = Interval: Indicate a time interval.

-> How long is this going to take?

Adding a time element to your name helps people understand how long it will take to achieve results. But, be careful to be realistic.

Don't make false claims you can't guarantee. It's a surefire way to crucify your credibility. If you cannot make a specific claim, use a time interval to reference the length of the program. 'Perfect Pecs in 6 Weeks' becomes '6-Week Perfect Pec Program'.

Of course, if you can guarantee a measurable outcome with a fixed period, use that in your name.

C = Container: Complete with a container word.

-> Container words close it up.

A container word denotes what elements the offer comprises. Here are a few container words you can add to the names of your products and services:

Blueprint, Masterclass, Challenge, Experience, Cohort, Accelerator, Bootcamp, Intensive, Solution, Template, 1:1, etc.

Examples of M.A.G.I.C. Offers that convert

  • 50% Off 4-Week Instagram Growth Accelerator.

  • Free Six-Week Better Body Blueprint.

  • 5 Leads In 5 Days Free Challenge.

  • 90-Day Rapid Fat Loss System.

  • 88% Off 60-Minute Content Hacker Masterclass.

  • The free 5-Day Guide to getting more done with depression.

Framing your offer like this makes it simple to understand, and simple to act on. So if you’re currently experiencing a lack of interest in your product/service/content, try reframing your offer with a little MAGIC.
